Conference on the theme "The misfortunes of Notre Dame Church and its renewal", by Jean GARDY, honorary vice-president of the association 'Les amis du vieux Calais'. The title of this conference was "the misfortunes of Notre Dame," but this title is outdated. The restorations carried out and those that are still going on have given the site an aspect that makes it the major historical monument of our city. With Philippe Cassez (president of the association) and in agreement with Dominique Darré (president of the AMPVAC) conductor of all these works, it was decided to modify the title which thus becomes "the misfortunes of Notre Dame and its renewal "Which Jean Gardy will talk to you about. With over a hundred views Jean Gardy will bring us back to the past of the monument and its spectacular restoration. The majority of the photographs were realized by Jean-Benoît. These documents come from the deceased Jacques Vendroux, the Museum of Fine Arts, Dominique Darré, Yves Vertu, Bernard Crebouw ... A very large number also comes from private collections. The multiplicity of these sources makes that many representations are unpublished, their quality will also surprise. Thanks to the digitization of the slides by Pierre Hedoux, Dolorès elaborated the slideshow. Tonight Gilles Peltier will be behind the camera. It is therefore to a group of friends always researchers that Jean Gardy must be able to speak to you tonight. Many encouragement has also been given to him, thanks to their authors. We would also be remiss if we did not mention the memory of a few friends who have worked hard to preserve the memory of Notre Dame, especially Albert Vion, Georges Fauquet and Charles Costenoble.
